"Screening and Short Intervention to Reduce Substance Abuse by Adolescents" research project (2006 - 2009)
In September 2006 CEPROS, as a partner in the team of the Childrens' Hospital Corporation, Boston, USA, embarked on the implementation of a research study focusing on the screening and short intervention efficiency in the area of drug prevention during preventive checks in general practitioner's offices for children and adolescents. The new CRAFFT short screening test of drug abuse in pediatric primary care in the Czech Republic validation will be another output for the Czech partner. Professor John Knight, the chief researcher in the study, is the author of this screening tool. CRAFFT was introduced to the Czech professional community in the General Practitioners for Children and Adolescents Drug Prevention Manual published by Cepros in 2006.
"Identification of Psycho-Social Factors Predicting the Retention of Patients in Buprenorphine Substitution Treatment" research project (2005 - 2007)
The main goal of the research project is to identify individual predictors of the buprenorphine substitution treatment success and/or to identify individual psycho-social factors and to evaluate their weight in influencing the buprenorphine treatment success. The research study launched in 2005 is planned for three years.
Drug Prevention in Practitioners' Offices for Children and Adolescents (2006 - 2008)
CEPROS is an expert partner to the Institute of Post-Graduate Education in Health Care in a project to train 20 general practitioners for children and adolescents in Prague in short intervention to prevent substance abuse by children and adolescents. This project is supported and funded from the EU, European Social Fund, Czech state budget and Prague City Hall budget.

Evaluation of Personality Development of Students at the Open Gate-Boarding School in Babice (2005-2007)
Continuous survey of personality development of all students at the first boarding school in the Czech Republic launched in 2005. Part of it was the evaluation of the preventive programme "Ready for Life".
Strengthening Czech - Ukrainian HIV/AIDS Prevention Strategies (2007)
The long-term project was implemented with the support by UNDP. In 2007 CEPROS prepared and organised a two-week study visit for a delegation of experts - doctors, social workers and state administration and local government officers. The project aimed at giving the Ukrainian specialists some practical experience, informing them on the strengths and weaknesses in the current Czech practice in preventing the HIV/AIDS infection spreading.
General Practitioners for Children and Adolescents Drug Prevention Manual (2005 - 2006)
This straight-forward manual was created with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic and aims at helping general practitioners to intervene, if they encounter patients at risk due to substance abuse. It is a brief physician's guide to the drug issues encountered in their everyday practice: it helps to identify children and adolescents or young adults at risk of drug abuse or drug addiction syndrome, to evaluate their current condition and to efficiently intervene and forward the patients to specialist care.
The Manual was published in 2006 and distributed to all general practitioners for children and adolescents in the Czech Republic.
"Possibilities and Practical Procedures in Short Intervention in Patients and their Families in the General Practitioner for Children and Adults Practice” training seminars cycle (2005)
held in co-operation with the Specialised Society for General Practitioners for Children and Adolescents, Adolescence Medicine Society and Society of General Practitioners for Children of the Czech Medical Association in seven catchment areas of the Czech Republic. The main lecturer at the seminars was PhDr. Magdaléna Frouzová, Director of Skála's Addiction Institute. The project was funded by the Ministry of Health.
"Creating a Safe Czech-Transcarpathian Transit Area in HIV/AIDS Prevention (support to introducing buprenorphine substitution therapy in health and social practice in the Transcarpathian part of Ukraine) (2005)
The one-week workshop had an ambition to offer professional experience of Czech experts in the area of substitution therapy and HIV/AIDS prevention to specialists from Ukraine. Part of the project was a round table discussion on the possibilities and needs of preventive measures in the Czech-Transcarpathian transit area. The project was funded by UNDP.
"Harm Reduction and Substitution Therapy in Injection Drug Users" international workshop (2005)
CEPROS was responsible for the contents and organisation of the specialist section of the five-day workshop for state administration and local government officers, representatives of government and non-government drug services providers from five CIS member states. This international workshop was organised by Amepra s.r.o.
